Welcome to Sam and Howard Neill’s blog. We would like to share two totally different weddings. The first took place just before Christmas 2008. It was a beautiful, lunchtime, picnic wedding in the historic grounds of Groot Constantia, Cape Town. The short vows are in Afrikaans.
The second wedding took place, almost twelve months before, at the Vrede en Lust wine estate. It was New Year’s Eve 31 December 2007.
The whole wedding party flew out from the UK and other parts of the world. The common bond was that they had their roots in Africa.
The bride and groom’s wish was to be married in their “mother continent” of Africa. A local Pastor, from Langa, conducted the service. An African choir, from Gugulethu, provided the music. A South African multi racial steel band entertained the guests.
One of the highlights of the evening was the count down to the New Year.
